The Utilities Technology Council (UTC) Foundation’s mission is to sponsor educational incentives and programs to attract, retain and support top technology and telecommunications talent for critical infrastructure industries. Our vision is an abundance of skilled and passionate talent transforming critical infrastructure industries through technology.
The UTC Foundation (the Foundation) was formed to help solve the workforce challenge facing utilities and critical infrastructure technology providers. Electric, gas, and water utilities deploy sophisticated information and communications technology (ICT) networks to support and enhance their critical services. As technology is evolving with customer expectations, the sophistication of these ICT networks is also evolving. Utilities need ICT professionals who also understand critical infrastructure.
The UTC Foundation’s programs will support student research and educational opportunities focused on ICT for electric, gas, and water utilities and their vendor partners. Our industry/education partnerships will unite students, faculty and industrial partners to collaborate on interdisciplinary research and learning. These programs seek to enhance the available technical and business workforce, advance telecom and technology for utilities, and facilitate strategic industry-university collaboration.
Led by a board of directors that oversees the Foundation’s strategy and helps build industry relations, the Foundation team is working with the universities and students to align curriculum to industry needs, assist in student projects and identify research topics.
